It’s A Boy!!!

This is our wee Little Lentil, at just 11 weeks old. He was cartwheeling and summersaulting all over the ultrasound! Here’s a top view and a profile. Cutie!

We were back at 17 weeks for a routine appointment with the Midwives. I was starting to sport a belly here, as our little Bean keeps growing and growing.

We had the anatomical scan and screening at 18 weeks. We found out our Baby Bean is a little boy, and we learned that he is pretty much totally fucking perfect (of course). Everything measures normally, the fluid levels are all up, and all fingers + toes + vital organs are accounted for. Other than an anterior low-lying placenta that’s kept me from feeling his kicks yet, it’s all good and groovy up in my womb. Here’s he is, 18 weeks old:

The 21 week Midwife appointment was quick and easy. We got to hear our little boy’s heartbeat, which is really comforting since I still can’t feel him moving yet (and it makes my cry EVERY time I hear it). We also took some silly pictures before the Midwife came in, ‘cause Damian and I always turn into ridiculous 4-year-olds when we’re in waiting rooms together. Ha!

And that’s all for now, with more updates to come!

The 26 week Midwife appointment! It’s all flying by, and the boy is kicking like crazy these days. I’ve gained 23 pounds so far - whereas before I was gaining on the lower side of normal, now I’m on the upper end. HA! I love it, and I’m looking forward to meeting my big beautiful pink and plump baby boy. As usual we got to hear his heartbeat, always such an amazing feeling.

Everything’s great these days. Healthy baby, healthy mama, happy family.

28 weeks and we’ve had some hurdles, but at least they’ve led to more ultrasound pictures (staying positive, right?). More good news is that my placenta has moved up, so I’m no longer at risk for placenta previa (which would have prevented a vaginal birth). Anyway, on to the beautiful boy!

^  little guy profile  ^                                 ^  um, boy parts!  ^

Isn’t he precious? His head is way down and nestled in, so it’s hard to get a clear shot, which is why the picture seems cut up (the 3d imaging is weird like that). In the first one you can see the umbilical cord. In the second his arm is up near his head, as usual.

We’ll keep you all updated as things progress (or hopefully, you know, *don’t* progress . . . )

Hello from our 37-week midwife appointment!!! WE MADE IT! And after an incompetent cervix with some preterm labor at 28 weeks, followed by a placental abruption at 31.5 weeks, and the resulting months of bed rest, bi-weekly non-stress tests, and transfer to OB care, let me just say . . .

IT’S SO GOOD TO BE HERE!!!

We are BACK with the midwives, BACK on for natural labor without induction, and BACK on track for a water birth. We couldn’t be happier, so here’s some more silly pictures from our last midwife appointment. Zee belly is beeeeeg!!!

That picture is so quintessential classic me and Damian, haha.  The next time I post on here, the photos may feature a trio instead of a duo. Yeeee!!!
